Dog ownership is a wonderful thing. As the old saying goes, they really are “man’s best friend”. Dogs can bring immense joy, and provide friendship, companionship, and protection. For many, dogs can provide that little spark that gets them through life, and as owners know, dogs give you unconditional love. They are always waiting for you to come home, and give you that happy face and wagging tail.

But there are a small minority who believe that their dog is a merely a burden. Some even see their dog as a fashion accessory. There are others who think that dog ownership is a temporary thing, and who discard their pet when it comes time to take a holiday, just because they see it as being too much trouble to find care for the dog during their absence. Those people never get to appreciate their dog for what they really offer.

Owning a dog requires a commitment on the owner’s part. A commitment of time, of money, of love, and of patience. Ownership is a partnership between you (and your family) and your dog. On your part, you must provide food, shelter, kindness, medical help if needed, and training. In return, your dog will give you loyalty and joy.

Please consider this commitment if you are considering dog ownership. It is not a responsibility to be taken lightly, and you need to consider fully the impact that dog ownership will have on your life, before you decide to buy a dog.

If you are new to dog ownership, it is advisable to seek professional help to train your dog. This will help to make ownership a more enjoyable, stress free experience for both you and your dog.

Dog’s are a great joy. Just remember that it is a long term commitment with certain responsibilities on your part.
